EQUIPMENT SUPERINTENDENT
Company: Knife River Materials - Wyoming Department: MAINTENANCE

Job Summary:
Provides management support to all maintenance operations to maximize utilization and reduce costs. Directly supervise maintenance personnel.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Minimum of 2 years' experience in a supervisory level position in shop and maintenance related field.
2. Extensive heavy duty diesel mechanic experience with knowledge of construction equipment, crushing equipment, and trucks. Minimum 5 years.
3. Must have a current valid driver's license and maintain acceptable driving record.
4. Computer literacy using Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel preferred.
5. Strong supervisory skills.

Preferred Requirements
1. Experience using JDE, spreadsheet servers, BI, Fuel Force or other tracking applications.
2. Prior experience as a heavy equipment mechanic.
3. Prior experience as a maintenance supervisor for a construction / materials-based business.

Duties and/or Responsibilities
1. Provides management support for KR Casper maintenance operations to maximize utilization and reduce cost.
2. Work closely with other KR shops for consistency in repair techniques, safety, policies, and practices.
3. Coordinates activities of all maintenance personnel engaged in repair and service of trucks and equipment.
4. Review requests for repair, complaints, and recommend course of action.
5. Monitor fleet compliance: work with locations to assure regulatory compliance and FMCSRs.
6. Attend Operations and Production meetings to understand upcoming needs and to provide operations with updates on equipment.
7. Develop safety awareness programs for shop/field mechanics; attend safety meetings in all locations.
8. Participate in the review of any accident or near miss involving maintenance personnel. Be prepared to report on incidents and provide suggestions for preventive actions.
9. Assist in annual budget process and establish equipment needs using long term targets.
10. Work with Operations on all major repairs and PM's and to manage monthly expenses.
11. Provide guidance on shop scheduling workload and monitor yard activities and housekeeping in maintenance areas.
12. Assist in resolving service issues.
13. Assist with training schedules for all mechanics and operators.
14. Monitor tire program and review bills monthly with local vendor reps
15. Supervise shop locations, mechanics, welders, and foremen.
16. Always work safely and take action to prevent all unsafe actions, processes and behaviors.
17. Perform tasks that may require lifting 50# occasionally; 10# frequently.
18. Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
1. Supervisory experience in an equipment and maintenance related field.
2. Knowledgeable about mechanic and equipment repair requirements.
3. Ability to have a good relationship with a wide variety of personalities and communicate effectively.
